One of the facets of my job is as Director of Human Resources. We currently have a position available in Social Media. I want to know your Social Media presence, I want to see your profiles in Twitter, LinkedIn, Delicious, Technorati, Digg, Flickr, etc. Do you have a blog? Where have you been, what have you said, how are you portrayed. What is your SoMe (Social Media) footprint? How “influential” are you?
I am discouraged when I receive “standardized” coverletters and resume’s. SoMe is so new and so different that I really don’t care about your experience as a forklift driver, or as a college newspaper editor, or that you’ve taken a marketing class. Those things aren’t relevant to this position. I want to know about your SoMe activities.
So, what would a good SoMe resume look like? I created one based on my SoMe footprint. As a Human Resources person, I based it on what I would like to see come in for the position we have available. (more…)
